About Justin Perkins

Hi, I’m Justin Perkins.

I founded Dimensional Product Advisors, and I’m the Principal Consultant for my customers.

Dimensional is a one-person consulting and advisory practice. When you hire Dimensional, you work directly with me—from the first conversation through the final recommendation.

I do not hand the work off to a junior team.

I do not disappear after the sales process.

I stay close to the details because that is where product-line problems are actually solved.

Where I work

I work where customer needs meet operating reality.

Product-line problems do not belong to one function.

Sales sees what customers ask for.

Engineering sees what it takes to create it.

Operations sees what it takes to deliver it.

Finance sees what it does to margin, inventory, and working capital.

Most businesses have all of these perspectives. The problem is that they are rarely brought together in a way that leads to clear product decisions.

That is where I work.

Both sides of the business

I understand both sides of the business.

I understand why companies add products, variations, and custom features.

They do it to win business, protect accounts, enter markets, and solve real customer problems.

I also understand what happens after those decisions are made.

New parts enter the system. New suppliers are added. Schedules become harder to manage. Exceptions become normal. Teams spend more time supporting the product line and less time improving it.

The customer need may be real.
The way the business responds to it may still create far more complexity than necessary.

My background

I have led product organizations and manufacturing teams in consumer products, connected hardware, and manufacturing businesses.

01

My work in Product has included:

  • Product strategy
  • Product development
  • Portfolio management
  • Customer research
  • New product introduction
  • Product-line simplification
02

My work in Operations has included:

  • Production and operations management
  • Manufacturing and supply chain management
  • Lean and continuous improvement
  • S&OP leadership

I have worked on both sides of the problem: helping companies grow through new products and helping them manage the operational consequences of that growth.

How I approach the work

I do not begin with a list of products to cut.

I begin by understanding:

What your business objectives are
What your customers actually value
What role each product plays
Where operational work is being created
Which differences are necessary
Which differences can be removed, combined, or redesigned

The goal is not simply a smaller product line.

The goal is a product line that is easier to sell, easier to build, easier to manage, and better able to support profitable growth.

Working with me

What it is like to work with me.

My role is to help leadership see the full system clearly and make better product decisions.

That means working across functions, asking direct questions, finding where hidden work is being created, and turning different perspectives into a practical plan.

The work is collaborative, but the accountability is personal.

You work with me directly, and I stay responsible for the quality of the work.

Start the conversation

Make your product line easier to run and easier to grow.

Start with a conversation about where overlap, unnecessary differences, and hidden operating work are affecting the business.
